The importance of nourishing home cooked meals is underappreciated, and discouraged by how modern society is structured with its hectic pace and endless spin of disinformation. When we are rundown, stressed, and distracted, hunger may attract us to cheap, sensually focused fast food. Societal pressures, that include prevention of alternatives, encourage us to dine at the fast food trough on food designed by man to make corporate profit.

Thank God there are very easy and versatile solutions using quick cooking whole grain pastas. Whole grain pasta was definitely a very early fast food.

If your pantry holds good food like EDEN pastas, it is easy to make delicious and satisfying meals in just a few minutes. Put the pasta into boiling water for a few minutes, drain, and add EDEN Spaghetti Sauce or Pizza Pasta Sauce; and/or add vegetables, a can of EDEN beans, a drizzle of EDEN Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and sprinkle with fresh or dried herbs. Pretty easily you have created a very tasty and very nourishing meal. There are twenty-five flavors and shapes of EDEN pasta - nineteen are smooth delicious whole grain. Endless options can be ready in minutes, and properly prepared they will deeply satisfy.

Whole Grain is Key

Whole grain is key to a bracing human diet. It provides a broad range of nutrients in the exact proportions needed for strong health and well-being. Whole grain has three main components - bran, germ, and endosperm - each is a potent source of essential nutrients that are deficient in refined, commercial pasta. Good, pure whole grain pasta provides protein, complex carbs, B vitamins, fiber, and important minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc to name a few, without the need for ‘enrichment.’

Scientists at the Human Nutrition Research Center at Tufts University say, “Whole grains help regulate blood sugar by slowing down the conversion of complex carbohydrates into sugar. In fact, low-glycemic index foods such as whole grains reduce hunger and can help control weight.” Three servings of whole grain every day is suggested.

EDEN 100% and 60% whole grain organic pastas are made from the entire grain, not from components reassembled to qualify for the marketing term ‘whole grain.’ Each step in the process of making EDEN pasta is designed to create the finest flavor, texture, and nutritional content. Small batch, freshly milled Eden selected organic whole grain, purified water, artisan craftsmanship, and slow steam/air drying are used. The Eden Organic Pasta Company, a Detroit landmark using traditional pasta making techniques and vintage Italian equipment continuously since 1923, has been run by Eden Foods for almost thirty years. This small pasta factory was North America's first third-party certified organic food processing facility.

Seven Pure Whole Grains

EDEN pasta is one, or a blend of two, of seven family farm cream-of-the-crop organic grains • high plains golden amber Durum wheat • Khorasan (Kamut®) wheat • Rye • Buckwheat • short grain Brown Rice from California • Spelt from Michigan and Washington state and • high altitude (+12,000') Native American family farm Quinoa from the Andes Mountains.

Organic vegetables and organic seasonings are added to some. Carrot • beet • spinach • flax • parsley • basil • red bell pepper • garlic • clove • paprika • saffron • annatto seed and • black pepper - each adds flavor, color, and beneficial phytonutrients.
