Clinton, Michigan — Eden Foods announces sponsorship of Golden Eagles Baseball Softball Club (GEBSC) in Brooklyn, Michigan. Organic EDEN Popcorn was also donated for concessions sales for the duration of the season.
The GEBSC is in its sixth season of supporting the Columbia School District recreational programs. GEBSC oversees baseball and softball for the students in the Columbia School district from T-Ball through Freshman year of High School. The Columbia School District has oversight of the club; however, they are a separate entity and receive no financial support from the school system.
“GEBSC started to assist the school because they didn’t have the resources to administrate the recreation programs,” said Jill Beach, Treasurer of the organization.
GEBSC has four fields with four games per day throughout the week. Donations and concessions help to fund improvement projects at the facility. The latest improvements were at Koufax field where new dugouts were installed and fencing was replaced. Pegs were also added for bases at different distances to open the fields for use by all age groups.
“For our next project, we want to have a batting cage installed at the complex,” Beach said. They would like to add a large netting system to protect visitors from fly balls.
Columbia School District is part of the Cascades Area Youth League. All Columbia School District home games are played at the GEBSC fields.
Beach said parents are generally more aware of healthy eating and more concerned about food choices. “As a parent and consumer I enjoy the popcorn and healthy option in a ballpark setting,” she said.
EDEN Popcorn is a good, clean, organic choice. There are no chemical additives, preservatives, pesticides, herbicides, or fungicides. EDEN Popcorn is Non-GMO verified. It is a satisfying whole grain snack.
As with all whole grain, popcorn contains high amounts of beneficial polyphenol antioxidants. Researchers reported at the 238th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Dr. Joe Vinson of the University of Pennsylvania said, “Early researchers thought fiber was the active ingredient for the benefits of whole grain... But recently polyphenols emerged as potentially more important.” Dr. Vinson further reported, “We really were surprised by the levels of polyphenols we found in popcorn. I guess it is because it’s not processed.”
Beach said, “The Golden Eagles Baseball Softball Club appreciates the support provided by Eden Foods. Without support like theirs, GEBSC would not be able to provide these opportunities for the kids.” []
