Eden Organic Popping Corn is certified organically grown by a group of Midwest organic family farms. It is a carefully selected yellow corn variety with a superior popping quality that produces large, fluffy, tender, melt in your mouth popped kernels.

After harvest Eden Popcorn is carefully handled from the farm to a certified organic mill with thorough popcorn expertise. Precise practices are used to retain moisture and to ensure that the kernels are not scratched or damaged. Arriving directly from the mill the corn is packaged at Eden's AIB rated 'Superior', Clinton, Michigan facility in a resealable standing pouch designed to retain its moisture.

Popcorn's unique popping ability comes from the water stored in the soft starchy endosperm inside its hard outer shell or pericarp. Heating creates pressure as the water expands. When the outer shell cracks the kernel explodes, the water escapes as steam, and puffs the endosperm turning the kernel inside out.

American Indians enjoyed popcorn for thousands of years. Tomb excavations in Peru uncovered 1,000 year old popcorn so well preserved that it still popped. Before the exploration of the Great Lakes region the Iroquois popped corn in pottery crocks over heated sand. To this day popcorn is considered one of America's favorite, most pleasurable snack foods.
