Clinton, Michigan - Edensoy organic soymilk is the winner of Grocery Headquarters magazine 2011 Trailblazer Award in the 'Soy-Based Products' category. The January 2011 issue announces this award. Foods were nominated by retailers and industry observers and judged by the Grocery Headquarters' Board of Retailers and Editors on uniqueness, ingredient profile, taste, delivery form, packaging, and health benefits.
Grocery Headquarters wrote of Eden Foods, "Ten years ago, not many people were aware that the term GMO stood for genetically modified organisms and today it is one of the hottest topics around. Recently, Edensoy from Eden Foods became the first non-GMO verified soymilk in North America, no small accomplishment considering the majority of soybeans are predominantly engineered. This issue has been close to the company's heart for nearly two decades. In 1993, Eden pioneered and perfected a process to avoid GMOs and their derivatives in food. For example, in an effort to keep Edensoy GMO-free, multiple tests are conducted of all beans used as seed, in growing, at the elevator, and at the manufacturing plant. In addition, Eden Foods purchases all soybeans and grain from U.S. family farms and makes it a point to know all of its farms, fields, and suppliers involved in the creation of Edensoy."
"Eden discovered a new type of soymilk in January 1983 in Japan utilizing Cornell University technology," said Michael Potter, president of Eden Foods. "It was the first soymilk properly prepared to nurture human beings, as it accomplished making available the soybean's storehouse of nutritional value without fermentation. Its phenomenal popularity created the new grocery category 'non-dairy liquid food' that is now ubiquitous in food retailing."
Edensoy is Eden selected organic whole food: U.S.A. family organic soybeans, organic grain, and unrefined organic sweeteners.
