Clinton, Michigan - Eden Foods now offers three new whole grains, packaged in easily merchandised, reclosable standing pouches.

NEW Eden Organic Millet Panicum miliaceum is family farm organically grown on the high plains of North Dakota. It was the first domesticated cereal, and a rare alkaline grain. Millet provides all of the essential amino acids. This yellow Millet is a good source of dietary fiber, protein, thiamin (B1), and magnesium. Mildly sweet, light and fluffy, use it as a main dish, in soups, salads, grain burgers, stuffing, millet mash potatoes, as or in hot cereal, or add to bread dough, pancake and waffle batter. Cooks in 30 minutes.

NEW Eden Organic Buckwheat Fagopyrum esculentum is hulled buckwheat, family farm organically grown on USA high plains. Despite its name buckwheat, it is not related to wheat. It's the seed of a broad leaf plant related to rhubarb. Eden buckwheat provides all amino acids including the essential ones, and is Nature's best source of rutin, a vitamin C complex flavonoid. Eden Organic Buckwheat is unroasted, mild and delicious. It is an excellent source of dietary fiber, thiamin (B1), magnesium, and manganese, and a good source of protein and niacin (B3). One of the faster cooking whole grains, ready in 20 minutes.

NEW Eden Wild Rice Zizania palutris is hand harvested in canoes by the Leech Lake Ojibwe of northern Minnesota. By law true wild rice must be Native harvested using these traditional methods. Parching it over a wood fire imparts a mild nutty flavor. The only indigenous North American grain, authentic wild rice is in danger of contamination from domesticated, hybrid strains grown in paddies. Eden Wild Rice supports the traditional culture and helps preserve this age-old harvest. It offers the experience of true wild rice, light, fluffy, and sweet. A good source of dietary fiber, protein, niacin (B3), magnesium, and zinc. Cooks in 30 to 35 minutes.

New Eden Organic Buckwheat, Organic Millet, and Wild Rice, along with Eden Organic Quinoa make the perfect lineup of Gluten Free, easy to cook, Heart Healthy whole grains. All are packaged at Eden's Clinton, Michigan facility in an isolated packaging room built to eliminate the possibility of allergen cross contamination. The entire facility is rated ‘Superior' the highest standard possible in food safety and sanitation by AIB International.

A recent major study once again confirmed the critical role of whole grain to health. The study, conducted at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School and published in the Archives of Internal Medicine in October 2007, found that one-half to one cup of whole grain cereal per day may significantly reduce the risk of heart disease.

The USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends three whole grain servings a day. In order for a food to be called ‘whole grain' it must contain all of the grain's edible parts: the bran, germ, and endosperm. All Eden Grains are 100 percent whole grain food, and are not reassembled. According to the FDA, "Diets rich in whole grain food and other plant foods, and low in total fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease and some cancers."

Each Eden whole grain is packed in moisture proof, reclosable, standing pouches. They are nitrogen flushed for freshness. Eden Buckwheat and Millet are one pound (16 ounce), and the Wild Rice is 7 ounces. All are kosher kosher.
