Apples, Montmorency tart cherries, and Concord grapes offer a wealth of bioflavonoid nutrients including potent antioxidants like quercetin, anthocyanins, and proanthocyanidins. Concord grape juice ranked #1 in antioxidant benefit out of a thousand plus foods, and #1 out of thirteen juices tested. There are at least seventeen antioxidants in Montmorency cherries. Apples and apple juice have antioxidant capacity greater than a 1,500mg dose of vitamin C.
The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture tells us cloudy apple juice contains four times more antioxidant polyphenols than clear apple juice. Their report shows us that genetically engineered derived (GMO) enzymes used to make clear juice also reduce antioxidants, flavor, and value. The clarifying enzymes are processing aids and so not required to be declared on labels. Most fruit juices are from Chinese origin, clarified concentrate and have other additives as well. These cheap shortcuts compromise quality, flavor, and nutrients; and usually pose questionable health effects.
The good news is that pure fruit juice of simple preparation can still be acquired today, although you do have to search through a lot of imitations to find it. It's found with an Eden label on it, employing no diminishing shortcuts and with no additives. Organic Eden juices are just pure juice, simply pressed, lightly filtered, and bottled in amber glass to protect flavor, nutrients, and antioxidants from light damaging photo-oxidation. No refined sugars, GMO enzymes, or additives are ever used; they are just not needed. The Eden fruit is so good that it simply needs our protection from adulteration.
Studies consistently show organic fruit has up to 40% more antioxidants than chemically grown. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's yearly survey of pesticide residues found in fresh fruit and vegetables released in May 2011 prompted the Environmental Working Group to place chemically grown apples and grapes at the top of its “Dirty Dozen” list. Residues of forty–eight different pesticides were found in a sampling of apples. After washing in cold water for 10 seconds to mimic the way consumers were expected to handle fruit at home, the USDA found pesticide residues in 98% of the apples and 97% of the grapes.
Eden juices are organic fruit from U.S.A. family orchards and vineyards. After years of organic management these trees and vines produce some of the world's finest, tastiest, most nutritious fruits. Eden Foods offers three award winning opaque organic juices that provide much more complete nourishment and enjoyable flavor.
