The ruffled, flowering sprouts at the base of wakame sea vegetable. Wild grown and hand harvested. After harvest is it cleaned, sun dried, misted with pure water, shredded, and dried again. Its sticky texture comes from fucoidan, a highly valued and beneficial polysaccharide. Mekabu has a pleasant, mellow sweet flavor. Use in soups, salads, Japanese style pickles, or as a garnish on top of cooked rice and other grains, traditional noodles, and sushi rolls. pareve.
