Place water in a teapot or saucepan, bring almost to a boil and turn off flame. Pour over tea bags, and steep 1 to 2 minutes. Remove tea bags and discard. Add syrup and lemon slices to the steeped tea. Place in a pitcher and refrigerate to chill. Serve with or without ice cubes. Great refreshing, summer beverage! Other kinds of citrus may be used together with or in place of lemon.
